The Basics
This is a Chinese abacus. This abacus has 15 columns and has hemispheres: Upper (heaven) and Lower (Earth).
The two beads in the upper section which each represent five in that number's place.
The five beads in the lower section each represents one of that number's place.
Anything touching the bar is being used.
Each of the columns represents a number's place, the farthest to the right represents the one's place, the next to the left is the ten's place, after that is the 100's place, and so on.
